The High Rising New York

New York is a city that is chiefly characterized by skyscrapers and high rises. If one happens to take a complete overview of the city, one will only come across the tip of several multi-storey buildings rising in the city every other day. The whole city is surrounded by water bodies and comprises of several towering buildings which seems to be the only attraction of this place.

The various multi-storey buildings standing high and giving a majestic impression to New York City have been constructed in different architectural designs each originating in a specific era of unique architectural pattern and style. The Woolworth Building set up in 1913 presents the ancient Gothic style whereas the Zoning Resolution established in the year 1916 commemorates the drastic change in architecture in its initial days when a modern theme in was introduced whereby the towers were limited to the lot size to allow the sunbeam to reach the ground level. The Chrysler Building built in the year 1930 and the Empire State Building constructed in 1931 represent the Art Deco design in which the tapered shape of the top side and steel spires were introduced for the first time.

The Chrysler Building is considered by many as the most beautiful building in New York in terms of its unique ornamentation like V- shaped lighting devices attached to a steel spire at the peak of the tower. Yet another architectural beauty of New York City is the Seagram Building that was constructed much later in 1957 displaying the real class and dazzling exquisiteness of the international theme. This particular style of architecture that was introduced much later laid to the use of visible bronze toned I- beams to enhance the beauty of the whole building. The Conde Nast Building set up in the year 2000 is a clear instance of green design that was blended with the New York architecture to produce a new dimension of architectural design and pattern.

The residential half of the city is characterized by beautiful brownstone row houses, townhouses and shabby tenements which were all introduced in the period between 1870 and 1930. In the adjoining region of the city like Maspeth Queens, Douglaston Queens and Riverdale, there are mainly large single family houses whereas in Tudor Revival and Victoria, one can find houses fit for a family of two members. The main building material in the city's construction is brick and stone after the use of wood frame houses were restricted to prevent any mishap due to fire.

The whole of the New York City is packed with numerous hotels which offer both comfort and luxury to the lodgers. One of the finest hotels in New York City is The Hudson Hotel that comprises of well decorated rooms and sophisticated interior and which offer an interior garden beautified with properly shaped trees and ivy walls. At the same time, the very location of the hotel is extremely convenient for its customers to get a direct access to a nearby market place or underground railway service. The Columbus Circle Subway Station is very close to this hotel and the Central Park is at walking distance. Yotel, located at Manhattan, is also one of those reputed hotels in New York City which have been offering spacious and cabin- style rooms and hi- tech amenities to the tourists.
